The price is per tier, not per writer. Each tier includes a writer-seat ceiling (1 on Individual, 3 on Pro, 15 on Team, 30 to 50+ on Enterprise) and your bill doesn't change inside that ceiling. One writer or three on Pro: same €29 / month. You only switch tiers when you hit the seat ceiling or need something higher up (the read-only server, OIDC SSO, an extra repo, a faster support SLA). Readers are never counted on any tier.
Individual licenses the desktop editor for a single writer. You get the full editor and your content stays as Markdown in your own Git repo — but no read-only server, so there's no published site for other people to read. Pro adds the self-hosted server (one repo, unlimited readers) and raises the ceiling to 3 writers. If you're keeping a personal knowledge base, Individual is enough. The moment you want to publish for readers, you want Pro.
A writer is anyone who runs the local desktop editor (EXE / DMG / DEB) and changes content. A reader is anyone who opens the rendered site served by the read-only server and reads what's there. Writers consume seats; readers don't. There's no cap on readers on any tier.
Per activated machine. 3 writers on Pro means 3 activated local-editor installs across your team. If one person uses a laptop and a desktop, that's two seats. They can deactivate one inside the app to free the slot.
The next activation is refused; existing activations keep working unchanged. Free a slot by deactivating one inside the app, or email kontakt@docucommit.se to move up a tier or discuss pricing for more writers under the same tier.
All minor and major versions for the life of your subscription, on every tier. There are no "this feature requires an upgrade pack" surprises. If it's in the release, you have it.
The desktop editor installs on the writer's machine. The read-only server runs using a docker image on infrastructure you control, your VM, your container platform, your office NAS. Your content never leaves your perimeter; the only network calls are the licence heartbeat and an update check you can disable — neither carries content or filenames, and IPs are HMAC-hashed. OIDC is supported today. Works with Auth0, Okta, Keycloak, and any RFC-compliant OIDC identity provider. SAML 2.0 and SCIM provisioning are addressed for enterprise contracts on a per-customer basis; email kontakt@docucommit.se to discuss. Note that sign-in identifies commenters and notification recipients — it does not restrict who can read the published site.
Every activated licence has a 30-day offline grace window. If the heartbeat can't reach our backend (a VPN cut, a firewall change, transient connectivity), the app keeps working for 30 days from the last successful heartbeat. Permanently air-gapped deployment is not supported — the licence check needs periodic connectivity.
Two ways. The 14-day free trial gives you the full desktop editor against your own repository — no card, no licence key.
